The Latest at Weymouth Pavilion

November/December is one of our favourite and busiest times of the year! Last week was especially chaotic (in a good way).

Our week kicked off with the World Cup which we streamed in the Ocean Room on Monday 21st November and Friday 25th November, we couldn’t believe how many of you turned up! Our tech manager and maintenance manager did an incredible job in adding some sparkle and making sure we have the biggest screens in town! Don’t forget, we are streaming the World Cup again on Tuesday 29th November, find out more on our website.

On Saturday the cast of our Christmas Pantomime Sleeping Beauty spread festive cheer at the Weymouth Christmas Light Switch On. The cast did some short performances and sing-songs on stage and had the honours of switching on the lights. Despite the rain and unfortunate power cut, the cast battled through and did Weymouth Pavilion proud!

The fun doesn’t stop there! We have some super busy shows coming up this week, including a full house for A Tribute to Hans Zimmer and John Williams, and an almost sold-out That’ll Be The Day Christmas Show. This is our last week of ordinary theatre performances before Christmas Pantomime SLEEPING BEAUTY takes over the whole of December! If you haven’t already got your tickets you really should think about booking yours now before the best seats are all gone! Click here to find a performance.

STEVI RITCHIE
IN THIS YEAR’S PANTO AT WEYMOUTH PAVILION

The search is on to find a talented local actress to play the lead role of ‘Princess Aurora’ in this year’s magical family pantomime Sleeping Beauty at Weymouth Pavilion.

Panto producers Enchanted Entertainment are on the lookout for a female aged 18+ from the local area to star in the show with the professional cast, including X-Factor favourite and singing sensation – Stevi Ritchie, who is playing the comedy role of ‘Jester’ in Sleeping Beauty alongside the hilarious Chris Casserly, who will be playing the ‘Dame’ this Christmas.

Female performers aged 18+ need to attend the auditions taking place on Monday 12th September from 11am onwards at Weymouth Pavilion. Auditionees will need to be available all day for any recalls that may be required.

Producer Guy Pascall said:

“It’s going to be a fantastic Christmas production and what an amazing opportunity for a local actress to gain valuable professional experience in the panto and to start them off on their own glittering career”.

Hopefuls need to bring a song of their choice with a backing track to sing to the audition panel. They will then be given some acting sections from the script of Sleeping Beauty to perform in front of the pantomime’s creative team.

The successful candidate must be available from 27th November – 9th December for rehearsals and then from 10th December – 2nd January for the actual performances. The role is contracted, meaning the performer will be paid for their work on the show.

Enchanted Entertainment will be bringing 34 spellbinding performances of Sleeping Beauty to Weymouth Pavilion from 10th December 2022 – 2nd January 2023 and for the first time ever the panto will feature AMAZING 3D! especially designed for children in the audience.

Musical Director Jezz Weatherall said:

“Princess Aurora in Sleeping Beauty is one of the best pantomime parts for an actress to play and we’ll be looking for someone that can sing, dance and act to a very high standard”.

Enchanted Entertainment are assembling an amazing cast and planning some spectacular pantomime magic to ensure Sleeping Beauty will be a wonderful family panto with plenty of audience participation, fantastic sets and costumes, and of course jokes galore for all the family!
